Re: 16GB CF card now $81 shipped - ho'ard - 01-18-2008 Those ar starting to seem useful to me . . . Anyone ever seen a Firewire card reader? Re: 16GB CF card now $81 shipped - Buzz - 01-18-2008 [quote h']Those ar starting to seem useful to me . . . Anyone ever seen a Firewire card reader? I see them regularly in my laptop travel bags... one each in heavy duty cordura wheeled, and nappa leather non-wheeled bags... at $81 for 16GB of high speed CF, am thinking of redeploying one as emergency/fix-it/boot drive. they're Lexar, BTW, but don't know about current availability... Re: 16GB CF card now $81 shipped - kj4btkljv - 01-18-2008 [quote h']Those ar starting to seem useful to me . . . Anyone ever seen a Firewire card reader? I've got a purple Lexar one too. Looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-Media-FireWire-CompactFlash-RW011001/dp/B00005OMZM This one would work: http://flashmemory-store.stores.yahoo.net/firewire-lexar-compact-flash-reader.html I would almost be tempted to try a USB2 CF reader. Here's one, at Dick's Sporting Goods, of all places: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2478779 Jeff Re: 16GB CF card now $81 shipped - ho'ard - 01-18-2008 Looks like the lexar lasts about a year (and is unavailable). Thanks for teh other links-- too pricey to make sense-- still better off with a small portable hard drive, but eventually removeable media like this will make more sense for storing large amounts of media. Re: 16GB CF card now $81 shipped - JoeBob - 01-18-2008 Thanks for the tip, I just ordered one as well. |
