Advice: Things to ask a potential Wedding Photographer? Also: Any leads for a photographer in Mpls MN? - edgarbc1 - 01-28-2008 I found many a link to interview questions to potential photographers... http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=interviewing+a+wedding+photographer but I am interested in hearing from the photography buffs or others what they would ask a potential photographer... I am in a planning stage now and i would like to be prepared and knowledgable (somewhat) going in.. tia! Edgar p.s. i know there are a few MR peeps in MN... if you have any leads for a photographer I would appreciate it! Re: Advice: Things to ask a potential Wedding Photographer? After skill look at the time constraints they impose. Last thing you want is on the wedding day with high emotion to get ripped off by a photog shaking you down for an extra hour. Also, find out how they plan to photograph the ceremony. They should be as unobtrusive as possible. Timeframe to get proofs. How do they guard film/negatives, etc. Friend of ours has no professional wedding photos because the film was lost/damaged. Re: Advice: Things to ask a potential Wedding Photographer? Also: Any leads for a photographer in Mpls MN? - weapon - 01-28-2008 Make sure to include a full buyout of the photos. Get a dvd of all hires images and the RAW files. Tell the photographer that you will order the first round from them but you want to have a full copy of the wedding photos for safe keeping. In this day and age, most on here can do better editing than your average photographer. Re: Advice: Things to ask a potential Wedding Photographer? All good comments! >> Time constraints >> expected dress >> timeframe for proofs >> full buyout of photos (digital RAWs) <<< im guessing this will cost more for this option or is this a standard thing now a days? thanks! He is from my hometown, and has created quite the career for himself. You will get good ideas on style, etc. That should help you find other photogs Re: Advice: Things to ask a potential Wedding Photographer? Also: Any leads for a photographer in Mpls MN? - deckeda - 01-28-2008 Lots of good advice here. We found an amateur (I think it was a friend of a friend) whom we spoke with and felt comfortable with. It was a fairly casual arrangement. We gave her a small wad of cash and she shot the ceremony and whatnot in color with an SLR (which didn't bother me in the least) and shot the reception in B&W with a Hasselblad. We bought the initial batch of prints from her and have the contact sheets, and negs too. My only regret is not more clearly specifying when prints. etc. would come back; I think we waited for like 6-9 months (!) to get them, but it all turned out well. Does their sense of humor match yours? (if any) Finally, (and irrelevant to the choice) schedule the group shots before the ceremony. That way, you aren't sequestered for 2 hours before meeting your guests. |
