I expect the turning point in PA was when the population of bitter, gun-toting, religious middle class voters voted with their feet. I mean, DAMN but he stepped on it with both feet there...

I doubt the media dogpiling over some idle comment made much of a difference.
A lot of Pennsylvanians agreed with his comment, anyways.
The chips fell about as expected.

How was that a turning point when she entered the contest with a 20+ point lead in all polls? If the voters in PA were on course to vote for Obama and that comment stopped the trend, well then that might explain how we end up with the kind of government we deserve.
Bear in mind this is the same State that once thought Rick Santorum was material for an office higher than county executive.

Yeah, those NPR-listening, brie-and-cracker-nibbling, Chardonnay-swilling, S.Pelligrino-bottle-recycling, Saab-driving, finger-wagging urban elites have a much more enlightened way of dealing with economic hardship. Unlike their less-advantaged church-attending, gun-owning, working-class rural fellow citizens.

Considering how long this seems to have gone on, it certainly seemed to have become a daily grind. For both candates and the rest of the world who has had to endure (ignoring) it.
