This is the first I've heard of this case. Hard to put a coherent picture together of what happened from the info presented here. The guy's wife helped raise the daughter's children as his own?

IN re this case, my take is that he was one sick and highly organized bastard. Such people exist all over the world. It's horrifying what he did to those children.. HIS children.
Much like the cult / sect in Tx that seemed to like to have God tell them "who's your daddy", keep their families 'captive' and such. I mean- a small apartment in the basement of a building versus a compound in Texas- they still can't get out, right ?

No...no...no...that's a completely different situation. Here we have the well-known fact that people who RELOCATE to Texas are compelled to join a sect and build large compounds to house everyone. This differs in that people in this second grouping mostly originated elsewhere and moved to a certain geographic location, as opposed to originating from a certain geographic location, as is the case with the Austrians.

Is there some kind of wacky idea that this sort of thing only happens in Austria? Sadly, if you Google "girl held captive" and "boy held captive" you will find a heartbreaking number of hits from all over the place.

Yeah, but do you know for sure they aren't all of austrian heritage? ;-)
That is amazing though. Lots of unanswered questions. How could the wife not have known something? I wonder why he wasn't the father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather too? Birth control for the kid's kids? Why is rape not substantiated yet? 10-15 yrs? The whole thing is inconceivable. kj.

This was a big story on CNN Europe. The wife claims to not have known that her daughter was in the basement with her husbands incestuous offspring. Either she is mentally ill, or lying. They didn't live in a palace.
