Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - space-time - 05-03-2008 There is an "Apple LaserWriter 16/600" NEW, NEVER USED on my local CL. Is this a good buy? I can't believe it is new, never used, but that's what the ad says. Are these the workhorses everyone is talking about? should I buy it? Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - deckeda - 05-04-2008 [quote space-time]should I buy it? Is it $1000? No. Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - space-time - 05-04-2008 how about $15? Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - mstudio - 05-04-2008 It depends on the asking price. It is the workhorse everyone talks about. I think it was made in 1995 or so, hard to believe new, never used. There are belts, rollers and plastic parts that may go bad if not used, the rollers do get hard and dry. That being said, I have two on my network at the studio, they never skip a beat. Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - deckeda - 05-04-2008 For $15, and it works, that's a RYF. Why are you still home? All you need is an AAUI-to-RJ45 adapter to network it. Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - deckeda - 05-04-2008 On the other hand it probably uses more electricity than a new Brother or HP. Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - Buzz - 05-04-2008 [quote deckeda]On the other hand it probably uses more electricity than a new Brother or HP. "probably" ? ? went from an old apple workhorse to an energy saver HP & a brother, and the electric bill dropped by over $10/mo... Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - davester - 05-04-2008 The 16/600 does have an energy saving mode. I find it hard to believe you had a $10 difference on your electric bill unless you leave it on 24/7 (which would be dumb) or print thousands of pages a month. Space-time's CL printer sounds like a super bargain to me. Mine is great, and it sure is a lot cheaper to operate than any other printer out there. Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - space-time - 05-04-2008 I wrote an email to the seller, they didn't include a phone number... waiting to see if they reply. The post was about 1 hour old when I saw it, hopefully not many people wrote so far. Maybe I get lucky and score this one. Re: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 questions - roshi - 05-04-2008 they are heavy. take a furniture mover to roll it around on. Or have someone help you lift it. |
