Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - deckeda - 05-06-2008 While in NYC a few weeks ago. Don't remember seeing any warning signs or running any lights. Starting to wonder if anything actually arrived in the mail. Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - macaroo - 05-06-2008 It takes NYS employee a while to catch up. Don't worry they won't forget about you. Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - deckeda - 05-06-2008 Have no doubt about that. Could be years, if ever, that this vehicle is in NY again; it's not registered there. I'm not a registered NY driver. And we're still not sure it arrived in the mail since it didn't come certified or registered. Just sayin' Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - Markintosh - 05-06-2008 Apparently I blew through a stop sign yesterday...and was stopped by our town's finest. Got off with a warning...first moving violation in 18 years.... Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - decocritter - 05-06-2008 What song were you listening to when you lost your "virginity"....... Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - blooz - 05-06-2008 You can check with your state about whether they cooperate with other states, specifically NY, about moving violations. (They don't bother about parking violations, tho I wouldn't want to get stopped in NY state. Hopefully i have been written off by now.) Many states have a cooperative agreement with neighboring states about this sort of thing and you may find out that you have trouble getting your registration/license removed if your state does that with NY. Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - Racer X - 05-06-2008 just so I understand this correctly... You were having car sex for the first time, and a red light camera snapped a pick? Yoy should sell copies on ebay to pay for the fine (and buy a new vehicle, or at least have your interior shampooed) Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - N-OS X-tasy! - 05-06-2008 Substitute "district" for "camera" and you've got yourself an interesting topic. And we're still not sure it arrived in the mail since it didn't come certified or registered. Just sayin' OK, I don't really understand if you didn't see any lights go off and you haven't rec'd a tix why you think you were nabbed. It's possible the camera was a dummy, not working, or that you didn't actually run the light (as the camera is defined to photograph violators). That said NYC isn't THAT incompetent. If you ran the light and the camera snapped you they have your plates so they have your name, rank, and serial #. If it was a rental they still have your info. If you were driving a pal's car, he's a real pal if he takes the rap for you. Depending on the level of cooperation your state has w/ NY, it's not as simple as blowing off a parking ticket. States take moving violations more seriously, even though cameras can only result in a civil penalty. Failure to dispute = admission of fault. If your state does have a cooperation agreement and you are found at fault you won't be able to renew your license until you pay the fine plus any penalties. So you might want to look into the consequences before blowing the tix off. BTW they don't have to send the ticket to you via cert or reg. mail. Reg 1st class will do. If you don't "get" it, your prob, not there's. It's good to be the king. Re: Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin - RAMd®d - 05-06-2008 It's a little scary that people "don't remember" running a red light or stop sign. And it cracks me up hearing people righteously proclaim "I don't think I was going that fast". But I digress... A lot of states have reciprocity, the agreement to honor out-of-state moving violations. And obviously, that affects the driving record in one's home state BTW they don't have to send the ticket to you via cert or reg. mail. Reg 1st class will do. If you don't "get" it, your prob, not there's. It's good to be the king Check and mate. I say you should say "Screw you, NY! You don't have the balls to come and get me, and I can beat it, easy! Bring it!" And do use Certified or Registered mail. Or no. |
