My hose got hosed - guitarist - 05-06-2008 Spring is here, and it looks like my garden hose is dysfunctional. it worked okay last summer, but now it's acting strange, and won't reboot. Any advice for what to do when a hose has hardware issues? I think my hose is hosed. Re: My hose got hosed - voodoopenguin - 05-06-2008 Is it kinky. Are you kinky? If it was stored with a kink then leave it out in the sun to warm up and then try to send water through to regain its shape. If it's developed cracks then there is no point in trying to repair it but I use old hoses for trickle watering in flower and vegetable beds by cutting a few more holes in it and then burying it just below the surface. If it's this sort of hose ![]() then you are on your own. Re: My hose got hosed - M A V I C - 05-06-2008 I got a pretty cheap hose. Over the past couple years, the end of it leaks more and more. It doesn't leak between the faucet and the part that screws on, but between that part, and the part that's attached to the hose. Any idea how to fix? Re: My hose got hosed - Racer X - 05-06-2008 get a replacement end. Couple of bucks. Re: My hose got hosed - BigGuynRusty - 05-06-2008 [quote M A V I C]I got a pretty cheap hose. What's a good brand to get? Re: My hose got hosed - Filliam H. Muffman - 05-06-2008 Sometimes a leak like that can be fixed by getting a better washer that seals between the swivel connection and the faucet threads. The last time I priced them in the local hardware store, a single hose end was almost half the price of a new hose on sale. Ugh, there are an amazing number of marginal plastic replacement hose ends. A brass one like this is a little better but the hose clamp can be a little uncomfortable/ungainly if you move the hose to different faucets very often. ![]() ~$3 plus $8 shipping http://www.doityourself.com/invt/6005383 If you are committed to getting a new one, cut off an inch of hose to take in to the hardware store to make sure you get a replacement for the right diameter hose. |
