$%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - Black Landlord - 05-06-2008 So I quietly ordered me an iMac . . . it took forever to ship (from Apple), then seemed stuck in transit for about 5 days. Was finally in Chicago and supposed to be delivered today. I knew I'd be home this afternoon and they =always= deliver in the afternoon . . . check the tracking info before leaving work-- "8:53 A.M.-- refused by recipient, returning to sender. WTF? So I call and supposedly I had "moved". Can't contact driver because of "a problem with his phone". I persisted until they put me through to the local center, and it's somewhat likely I may be able to get special help to get it here at a time when I'm home. No notices to be found anywhere. Ghetto. Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - kj4btkljv - 05-06-2008 Ghetto - like In Da Hood? Or, Ghetto - like $hitty service, pi$$ a$$ poor. Cartman's song is coming to mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUWC3mHmlUs Jeff Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - volcs0 - 05-06-2008 I stopped shipping FedEx and UPS to my home about six months ago. I had a lot of problems with deliveries (I am in Chicago also). Sometimes, I would be home waiting, watching, etc. and my online status would mysteriously update to "Recipient not home." Now I send everything to my work, where it goes to the loading dock and someone signs for it. It sometimes takes an extra day for things to get to me, but it is worth not having all the added hassle. For what it's worth, when I've have problems with FedEx, they've done a lot over the phone in trying to make things right. One problem with Apple is that sometimes they specify that items cannot be signed for - must be delivered to recipient. In those cases, you can't have them hold the item and you pick it up. I found this out the hard way when I drove all the way out to pick up a Powerbook that I had held at Airborne (since I was not going to be home). I had to get a faxed release from Apple that it was OK for me to pick up in person rather than deliver. What a pain. Good luck. Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - Black Landlord - 05-06-2008 That's good info, thanks. I don't have the luxury of work delivery (most health care entities are very uptight about this). If I don't get help from fedEx I'll take it up with Apple and see if they can squeeze an extra attempt out of them. Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - vision63 - 05-06-2008 Ugh. iMac-us Interruptus. Don't let 'em ruin your joy. Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - olnacl - 05-06-2008 I'm sitting at home right now, waiting for my Wii - supposedly on the UPS truck. I got home at 3:30, half expecting a delivery failed note on the door, but nada. Hoping it's still on the truck making its way here. But, I need to run errands - wait or go? Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - Black Landlord - 05-06-2008 Wait. Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - vision63 - 05-06-2008 Wait. Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - modelamac - 05-06-2008 Wait. Re: $%^#&%* ghetto Fed-Ex - pinkoos - 05-06-2008 Go. That will guarantee that UPS will show up at your door. |
