Late afternoon we took the small river cruiser down to the boatyard to pick up the sailing dinghy from its winter storage. The weather was bright and quite warm to begin with however it got a little chilly towards the end. This gives an idea of the countryside I live in, flattish with a network of rivers and lakes (known as Broads and yes I've heard all the jokes). The last picture is of some boathouses. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the boat we took, big enough for a couple to stay on with a double bed, galley, toilet and shower but just going out for the day it can take eight in comfort. All wood construction and over 50 years old, name of Mole after the character in The Wind in the Willows. ![]() Here are some pictures taken at the boatyard. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here is the dinghy lashed to the side for its trip back. In a few days its mast and rigging will be attached and then it will be ready for the season. It is an all wood construction and about 120 years old. ![]() Lastly a couple of photos of the local wildlife, ![]() ![]() We will be having an all day trip out in the cruiser this Saturday when we take my wife's Aunt out to celebrate her 89th birthday. Lunch and maybe tea, should be wonderful. Re: A late afternoon trip on the river - JJ - 05-06-2008 Which river is that Voodoo? If you go back to my posting yesterday: http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/488600 I think I can safely say that my car was the fastest there, but could you spot it in the video? Poop poop! I have always wanted to do that. Re: A late afternoon trip on the river - mrlynn - 05-07-2008 You're in England? Who knew? Years ago, we used to schlep the canoe out to the Sudbury River (in Wayland, near Boston) and picnic of summer evening. Now we live on the same river (farther up, in Framingham) and rarely get out on it. Too 'busy', I guess. /Mr Lynn Re: A late afternoon trip on the river - GuyGene - 05-07-2008 Thanks for posting those, voo... makes me want to get out in the bayou too... |
