Anyone ever refused a shipment from Dell? - Chupa Chupa - 05-07-2008 I ordered a monitor yesterday, apparently a bit too quickly after reading a couple pro reviews. Last night I read some user reviews and discovered the monitor I bought (2008WFP) has a glossy screen. Yuck. There is nothing on the product page that says it's a glossy screen. Unfortunately, it's already in transit. I called up Dell this AM and asked them if I should just refuse (requires signature) or if I needed an RMA. They told me to call back when I got the monitor and couldn't help me further (not sure why since it's out of there warehouse now). Anyway, I'm thinking since it requires sig the easiest thing would be to just refuse shipment. That would save me the hassle of having to call Dell back and then ship it. Anyone done that before? I really don't want to pay to have it shipped back since Dell didn't make it clear it was a glossy screen. Re: Anyone ever refused a shipment from Dell? - Robert M - 05-07-2008 Chupa, Since the monitor is in transit, Dell may think of it as a completed sale. I know that's how my company would treat it. Once our items are shipped and invoiced, it's a completed sale. So, they may want to treat it as an exchange or a return and require you togo through the usual hoops before they'll take it back. Robert Re: Anyone ever refused a shipment from Dell? - onthedownlow - 05-07-2008 Hmm...none of the 2008WFP's that I've ordered have ever came with a glossy screen. I think what you read was wrong on the reviews. I think what you read was wrong on the reviews. Quite possible the user was writing about a different monitor and ended up in the 2008 reviews. I saw two user reviews commenting that the screens were like mirrors, which freaked me out. Thanks for the info. Since you are saying they yours have traditional matte screens I guess I'll play the "lottery" and open mine up when it comes. Hopefully it will be matte. Here are some of the reviews I read: http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/flat-panel-lcd-monitors/m/52276573/ Re: Anyone ever refused a shipment from Dell? - jdc - 05-07-2008 you bought it for the web cam? i would have bought the 2009 instead... or a 22" Re: Anyone ever refused a shipment from Dell? - onthedownlow - 05-07-2008 Well, now that I think about it, the 2008WFP do have an ARC-Glare (2H) coating...so maybe that is what they are referring to when glossy. Other than laptops/tablets and certain niche items...almost all monitors from Dell (up until this year, I suppose) have a matte finish. I would go ahead and accept it and see what it's like...you should be fine if you'd like to return it for full refund. Dell's good like that. Re: Anyone ever refused a shipment from Dell? - Chupa Chupa - 05-07-2008 [quote jdc]you bought it for the web cam? i would have bought the 2009 instead... or a 22" Actually I bought it for the silver bezel. Actually if I was really vain, I would have just ponied up for the Apple Cinema. |
