Will iBook work with screen removed? - rz - 05-07-2008 I know someone who has a G4 iBook and the screen is badly cracked. He's able to hook it to an external monitor and it works fine, but he hates looking at the cracked screen all the time. Does anyone know if the screen can be removed and have it still work? Re: Will iBook work with screen removed? - Monster - 05-07-2008 it can, here's one example, http://www.c-h-a-o-s.com/2007/07/05/diy-ibook-server-booklet/ Re: Will iBook work with screen removed? - rz - 05-07-2008 Thanks. I saw that and another page that seem to indicate it can be done. But I had to go through 6 pages on Google before I saw both pages. Re: Will iBook work with screen removed? - The Grim Ninja - 05-07-2008 Yes, it will work, but it will think the screen is still attached. This can be a pain in extended desktop or if his monitor is a higher resolution than the ibook in mirror mode.. Re: Will iBook work with screen removed? - Chupa Chupa - 05-07-2008 Yes. My dad's G4 iBook's screen backlight went out last year. He didn't want to spend the $ to fix or on a new one so I just hooked up an ext. monitor. Works great for him, Re: Will iBook work with screen removed? - Mike V - 05-09-2008 Why doesn't he just keep it closed and use an external keyboard and mouse? |
