Need to paint the bus - blusubaru - 05-08-2008 I confirmed the rumors with a state trooper last night. At least 51% of the bus needs to be a different color from the nationally registered "School Bus Yellow." So, I've got a little over 48 hours to paint the bus, and it's raining today. Tomorrow looks clear, so my question is, what's the best paint? We've decided on a gray color, and there's no time to sand. I was thinking of just getting a 5gal bucket of rust-olem, or some other type of exterior enamel paint and slap it on with rollers and brushes. It's going to get a good power-washing today in the driveway. Re: Need to paint the bus - lafinfil - 05-08-2008 Why not just do a temporary "camouflage" Go to Big Lots or other discount place and buy a few rolls of different colored duck/duct tape. The Big Lots near me has red, blue. green and other assorted colors in 2" tape for about $5 a roll. Just do a bunch of random stripes over the sides at various angles - like an 80's laser effect You could even have laser reflections - have a line hit a spot and refract back a bunch of different directions. You mainly need to cover the sides and over any ID graphics / numbers / etc... Quick and easy to get you through the weekend and until you can paint it correctly Re: Need to paint the bus - papercup - 05-08-2008 ![]() Re: Need to paint the bus - OWC Jamie - 05-08-2008 ![]() grey ? as in Correctional Facilities" grey ? ![]() leave the black stripes. post pics Re: Need to paint the bus - blusubaru - 05-08-2008 We've chosen gray so it will be easy to paint over again in the future. I didn't even think about duct tape! That would be awesome! Re: Need to paint the bus - JoeBob - 05-08-2008 +1 on the Partridge Family paint scheme. Re: Need to paint the bus - will2000 - 05-08-2008 Your Rustoleum idea is a good one and should last until you can bring it to MAACO. Just clean and dry before applying. Re: Need to paint the bus - cbelt3 - 05-08-2008 Earl Scheib ? Get a few of the "Bachelors" to help you paint the "Bachelorette Bus" in some empty warehouse someplace. The resultant art might prove a nice moving canvas of hormonal testimonials to mating and marriage. |
