Data from Columbia disk drives survived the shuttle accident - BigGuynRusty - 05-09-2008

Snippet.:
"Jon Edwards often manages what appears impossible. He has recovered precious data from computers wrecked in floods and fires and dumped in lakes. Now Edwards may have set a new standard: He found information on a melted disk drive that fell from the sky when space shuttle Columbia disintegrated in 2003."

Jimmy, no, they weren't "Firewire". I believe they were S-class HItachi, but I'm not sure. Still, it's incredible that they were able to recover 90% of the data and complete the research experiment that the brave, doomed crew had performed in orbit.

Those hard drives I saved from when my house burned down and destroyed my computers....that I've been putting off sending out for recovery (it's expensive) ...this makes me reconsider, with improved hopes of full or near-full recovery.
