AT&T commercials - bazookaman - 05-13-2008 Those ones with the guy and the guy's phone? I wonder if it would be cheaper to hire twins or would it be cheaper to do the special effects and film the same guy twice. Re: AT&T commercials - Gareth - 05-13-2008 If you hire twins, assuming it's a SAG (Union) commercial, which it probably is for AT&T, then they have to pay twice the session fees and residuals. Haven't seen the commercial(s) you're talking about, but depending on the market and amount they plan to air it, it might be cheaper to do the special effects with one guy (plus it's a larger pool of talent to cast for one guy than for twins). Re: AT&T commercials - bazookaman - 05-14-2008 One fo them is with Ronny in the pool hall. Ronny is playing pool while the other guy says "Hi, this is Ronny's phone. Ronny won't answer...b/c he's a dillweed" Re: AT&T commercials - Gareth - 05-14-2008 Oh right. Don't know for sure, but my best guess (and I work in commercials for a living) is that it's one actor who is composited in post. Re: AT&T commercials - bazookaman - 05-14-2008 ah ok. I have no idea why I was thinking that. While it seems like it would be more expensive to hire twins. It also seems like it would cut down on the production time a whole lot by just doing everything all at once. But thats just me and my limited knowledge. Although James Cameron used twins twice in Terminator 2 as opposed to special effects. |
