Dry-cleaning upholstery and carpeting-- anything hazardous in there? - Black Landlord - 05-14-2008 New business across the alley-- guy pulls his "Chem-clean" van across the garage entranceway and spends the day cleaning whatever it is his clients give him. The noise is not too horrible, but I'm wondering if there are any sort of chemicals I should be worried about. Anyone familiar with the process? It's about 15 feet from my patio/container garden. Thanks. Re: Dry-cleaning upholstery and carpeting-- anything hazardous in there? - Panopticon - 05-14-2008 Call the "Chem-clean" guy and request the MSDS sheets for his process. If he refuses, call your local health/enviro depts. and ask their advice. What is the 'New business across the alley' ? That would be your first clue. If it's fabrics, etc, he's probably just using an enzyme based cleaner. There's no-one official to call around here-- never any response to anything. The next property to the east has auto repair going several hours a day, and the next one had metal sawing and welding going on in the back for a wrought Iron fence business. Got black paint splatters on some of my planters from that one. |
