Sowing the Seeds of Love - voodoopenguin - 05-19-2008

My evening walk tonight was to the album 'Seeds of Love', one I hadn't heard for a while now and probably not completely all the way through since we bought it. I'm shocked that it's now 19 years old.

I still love the title track and think it a very clever homage to the Beatles although I know that some at the time didn't like it because of the Beatles pastiche formula.

Well, you finally picked one with which I am not familiar. Smile

I thought those guys were really talented then and still do and I think it's a great song.

I like the French Horns. it's a really nice song. And the video is off the hook (as the kids would say). Or "tight" (as the very small kids would say).

I loved "The Hurting", but didn't follow them afterwards.

Great, catchy tune!

The Hurting is still one of my all time faves.
Right before their second album (Songs from the Big Chair) was released, some of the band came in to the record store I worked at, and put us on the comp list.
Got a signed promo 12" of one of the singles (probably "Shout") somewhere.
Somewhat memorable, as we were in the VIP box, but the show was completely canned and performed with barely any attempt at stage presence (that was back when synthesizers were still mistakenly assumed to be completely captivating in their own right).

Sounds like the Fixx concert I went to in 1895 -- deathly dull. At least their opening act, General Public, rocked the house.

Flash forward about 15 years-- saw Chemical Bros in the same venue-- main floor, all seating removed, basically a giant rave; never saw the band, but they had a great laser show emenating from the stage. Blew me away . . .

That's weird. I saw the Fixx at the Bottom Line during their first tour. Great show and not canned at all.
