Should it stay or go? - michael_s - 05-20-2008 Moving soon and and trying to decide what to do with many many boxes of samples and reference materials. I have tons of CA magazines, Print Annuals, and Art Directors Annuals as well as 20 + years of print samples. Some of the Annuals I have work in, but don't remember which ones, and frankly don't seem to care. Any reason to keep these old books for archival stuff I'll more than likely never look at, or some other reason I'm missing? Or dump them to the curb? Thanks in advance for the counseling. Re: Should it stay or go? - Chupa Chupa - 05-20-2008 The general approach of most professional organizers is if you haven't needed it in the past year odds are you'll never look at it again. The very fact you are contemplating dumping them says everything you need to know...dump. (Though if you can figure out which ones you have work in that could be helpful or entertaining in the future). Re: Should it stay or go? - Don Kiyoti - 05-20-2008 That's a tough one. I recently tossed out a bunch of really nice paper samples. They just seemed to good to throw away but I have no use for them any more and I couldn't think of anyone else who did. Maybe there's an art college or design school nearby who might like to have the magazines? Re: Should it stay or go? - maco - 05-20-2008 This indecisions bugging me Esta undecision me molesta Re: Should it stay or go? - Mr Downtown - 05-20-2008 I've been trying to find an art school in Chicago who'll take my old AD annuals and CAs. No luck so far. They do sell on eBay but there's the hassle of boxing and mailing. I notice that my U&lc's are in some demand there. Re: Should it stay or go? - jdc - 05-20-2008 take all the paper samples to a pre-school or kindergarden -- they would love the free paper for "craft" days they make take the CAs as well and use them to cut out heads, cars, etc for collages recycle the rest i stopped getting CA in late 2006, found i just wasnt reading them -- kept about 5 years worth till 2001 -- but this post made me realize i havent opened any of them in at least a year Re: Should it stay or go? - blooz - 05-20-2008 Another vote to toss. I recently dumped a bunch of MacAddicts, all pre-Tiger. Figured whatever was in them was either out of date or i knew about it or it didn't matter to me. It wasn't easy, nor tossing the disks that came with them, even tho i hadn't looked at either in years. There's always that "I just might need it some day…" inherited trait some of us have. Re: Should it stay or go? - M>B> - 05-21-2008 My library has a magazine exchange, things seem to come an go pretty fast. See if something is available in your community. |
