8 Mpixels, and 18X zoom in a small sensor can't be too good.
I'll stick to my 6 Mpixel APS-C dSLR and 50/1.4 prime (and also some nice zooms, 2-3x, not 18x!!!)

the image could be better, but you can't get 'close' with 3x zoom - for $300 I'd argue that you get a lot for your money.

I agree, 18X will give you a larger image, but isn't the lens kind of slow at the long end? what;s the F number? how is the distortion for such a long zoom?

Slow? Compared to what? Have no idea what the fstop is - it's NOT 2 point something and ther is some distortion at full zoom shooting into light. But take a look at the pics I took there - not bad for a cheapy camera.
