Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - Mike Sellers - 05-22-2008 Oh yeah, ***SPOILER ALERT***, I guess. I don't go out to see many movies and usually wait until they're cheap at the rental store. Picked this one up at one that was going out of business because I had read some good reviews and like the first one. I realize that without the moronic hey-let's-split-up-so-the-the-killer-can-pick-us-off-one-by-one mentality, most movies wouldn't get made but I'm growing less and less tolerant of it. And if the first 45 minutes of this one is any indication, it has it in spades. First off, two kids sneak off into an infected area just to get a picture of their mum. Y'know the house is going to be there after they clean it up and there's still potentially a virus out there that wiped out Great Britain. I don't expect the young kid to act responsibly but the older one? Sheesh. And what great security. One guy spots them sneaking out but it take them another hour or so to apprehend them? Give me a break. I almost gave up at this point but then they establish the mom is still alive and may possess antibodies that fight the virus. OK, I'll stick with it for a few more minutes. BUT, this person who may have the key to an antidote THAT WIPED OUT AN ENTIRE ISLAND is left unguarded so her husband can sneak in and make smacky-face with her. At that point, I turned if off. Any reason I should finish it? Does it stay as stupid through the rest of the movie? Re: Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - beerman - 05-22-2008 Doesn't sound like there is any reason for you to finish the movie. I'm pretty sure they made the movie so people could watch zombies get shot etc. I thought it was better than the first one. I could have done without some of the more graphic scenes. Re: Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - MacArtist - 05-22-2008 I thought it was a pretty good zombie movie. Re: Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - lipskidder - 05-22-2008 I just saw it a couple weeks ago. The rest of it is like any other flick of the same theme. Robert Carlyle makes a great undead. But the whole thing is a train wreck. They kill off the mom with the antibodies which defeated the whole build up which I thought sucked but that in itself was a setup because the boy ended up getting bit by daddy before daddy gets killed by daughter. He doesn't turn undead but is like mommy in where he is infected but probably contains the same antiviruses. The both get rescued but the movie ends basically hinting that the boy infects their helicopter savior and the virus runs rampant again. I didn't wish I didn't see the movie but it was parts of good movies put together to make another movie. Re: Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - d0e - 05-22-2008 i loved the movie but didnt really like the zombie dad thing at moments it took me out of the flick, still love it and can't wait for 28 months later or what ever they call it lol Re: Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - Mike Sellers - 05-22-2008 [quote BigGuynRusty]You're looking for the meaning of life in a frakking zombie movie! No, just looking for a decent scary movie that doesn't rely on unbelievably stupid behavior to advance the plot. Like the first one. It CAN be done. Re: Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - Drakesgirl - 05-22-2008 See, I thought you were talking about "28 Days." Tooootally different movie -- hilarious, and it has Alan Tudyk in it, who I love. That one's about a chick in rehab. ![]() Re: Finally watching "28 Weeks Later" - give me a reason to finish it - N-OS X-tasy! - 05-22-2008 Quit now and you'll miss the cowbell. |
