colleague had a baby, should we call in? - space-time - 05-22-2008

one of our co-workers had a baby two days ago, but he never called to tell us the news. We hope everything went OK, but no one wants to call. should I call??? I am afraid I will not know what to say if the news is not 100% positive as we hope...

or better just sit put and wait?

Don't know that I'd know what to say either, but my feeling is to call...
Be ready with a "congratulations", or an "oh, my god, I'm so sorry!".

Either way, better SOMEONE gets the advanced word to the office, so the whole crew can have a heads up for congratulations cards, or condolence cards.

Just 2 days? Probably still catching their breath.

I'd bet there are blood relatives they haven't called yet.

The office would be pretty far down the list for most folks.

I'm surprised that you didn't hear about the birth on the news. Being the first male human in the history of mankind to have a baby is pretty earthshattering stuffWink
