Does anyone have a QAM channel lineup for Time Warner NYC? - estnyc - 05-22-2008
I'm trying again to set up my HD Homerun, and I have a feeling I'm missing some free channels. Anyone? I tried searching the avsforum threads, but gave up -- they're so convoluted. TIA.

Better to scan for them than to rely on possibly out-of-date info. A common tactic cable providers use is to occasionally reassign free HD channels to new frequencies, presumably in an attempt to convince consumers of those channels that free HD "went away" and they need to buy an HD package if they want to continue to enjoy HD content.
My cable provider (Cox) tried this recently. When I realized what had happened and called Customer Support to request the new frequencies, the Tier I idiot I spoke with told me that my HDTV's QAM tuner is incapable of tuning in cable HD signals and that any HD content I'd been receiving must have been OTA. I spent a few minutes trying to describe the difference in function between a QAM and ATSC tuner, then wisely asked for a Tier II support person. While he wasn't able to give me the info I requested, he promised to investigate and get back to me -- which he actually did; I was quite impressed. In the meantime, I simply rescanned and was soon up and running with free HD again.

. . .Time-Warner does move them every so often. . .has happened to me a few times. . .I just checked and yeah it is not on the channel it used to be on. . .will have to search to try to find it. . .

In my area Time Warner shifted the QAM lineup over 10 times in 6 months.
