Is it a standard now on all MacBooks and MBPs? I am not crazy about it ... finally had a chance to test it out at the local Apple Store three days ago. Consider getting rebfurbish MB for S/O. Which model to avoid? Do the MBs have PRAM batteries? I am out of the loop on the latest Mac laptop technology Sad TiA

Avoid original coreduo (hard to find now anyways) because of heat issue- only core2duo.
Probably don't want anything before fal '07 macbook-- they got an important graphics chip bump at that time. Otherwise everything from Fall '07 on (3100 graphics chip) is fairly similar, and just comes down to processor speed, how much RAM, combo vs. superdrive, etc. The current gen got a Penryn processor (yahoo, for whatever that's worth).

You get used to the keyboard in about 1/2 hour of steady use, non-issue.

I consider a white MB with a superdrive the one to get, as a black macbook owner-- it needs to be cleaned about every 5 minutes or it looks disgusting.

1. Yes
2. Single core MBs.
3. No.

My fingers still slip all the time on the new keyboards. I think they suck. Others like them.

I wonder if part of it is a finger-size issue. I'm a big guy.

Looking back on an earlier thread on the subject, it seems that the thing that most people like is the fact that it's quiet.

That's actually one of the things that I don't like about it. It's hard to identify a mis-key by sound. Also, the limited reflex is part of the same package; the same soft plastics used to cushion the keys and reduce sound also nearly eliminate travel.

Earlier love-fest:

I am on a spring '08 MB black...keyboard for me is great. Reminds me a lot of my Pismo and 1700cs keyboards both of which I loved.
