Help with Thunderbird? - AlphaDog - 05-30-2008 It started acting very strange yesterday evening. I have all of my messages out of it, and I've backed up the Address Book. The problem is that it doesn't want to consistently download messages from my ISP. I suspect something has become corrupted, but I don't know what nook or cranny to check. Do any of you have suggestions? I wouldn't mind doing a clean install, but that probably wouldn't do any good unless I can be sure the corrupted piece is out. All of the settings seem to be correct, because it will sometimes download but sometimes not. Re: Help with Thunderbird? - Black Landlord - 05-30-2008 Most likely an ISP problem. Re: Help with Thunderbird? - bfd - 05-30-2008 [quote Black Landlord]Most likely an ISP problem. or a drinking problem… ![]() (just kidding) Re: Help with Thunderbird? - AlphaDog - 05-30-2008 I suppose we can't rule out the ISP completely, but it's been doing other strange things, too - like locking up when I move files between folders. At one point, I did do a "Compact Sent Folder" command, and it took five minutes before the app would respond to any other command, and that included loading a list of messages in the in box. That's why I was feeling it was something with T-Bird itself and not the ISP. Re: Help with Thunderbird? - AlphaDog - 05-30-2008 Update: I finally thought about going to another computer to see if T-Bird work on it. (Duh.) Yup. That ruled out an ISP issue, so I deleted Thunderbird and installed a new download. So far, so good. I didn't think apps like this would become corrupted, but I guess they do. I'm back in business now, and all of my old e-mail is very neatly arranged. That sure hadn't been on my list of things to do today, but it is kind of nice to have it done. |
