I knew I should have kept my mouth shut about my Whirlpool dryer... - ztirffritz - 06-02-2008

Last week in the thread(s) about washers and dryers I mentioned that my Whirlpool Washer and Dryer are running fine. My dryer now sounds like it has a drunken zombie inside trying to get out. I found that a rubber roller that helps to balance the barrel had worn out and it was bouncing around on the post that it was mounted on. I can't find any place for parts. Does anyone have a good source? I tried Sears, but their link for parts just takes me to a page to schedule a service appointment with a minimum $65 charge. No thanks.

I have heard nice things about these folks but have never used them.

Have you googled it? Lots of places come up, including this one.: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/

Anyone have experience with this site: I've linked to the part that I think that I need:

I ordered from the place in my link. It says that they ship next day, and I picked the cheapest shipping, so I should have the parts in 10 days.

I know you've already ordered it but did you check to see if there is a local parts house ?

I have a couple of good local ones and they are often cheaper than ordering online
by the time you add the shipping.

Also if there are more than one of the rollers it is probably worth replacing all of them
as long as you have to take it all apart.

I have had excellent results using this seller on ebay:

supplystuf

I saved a ton of money over local shops or places like mentioned above, anyone looking for parts should a least look first. You might need to know the part number you are looking for so use other sites to figure that out if needed. They are a true parts house that operates locally in addition to selling on ebay.

I am on LI in NY they are in PA and I have gotten items the next day. Shipping is reasonable or even free sometimes.

I ordered a kit that has the belts, pulleys, and the rollers. As you mentioned, it makes sense to do it all at one time. This model appears to be from 1987, so I guess it is due for some TLC.

I put it back together without that roller and it is amazing how quiet it is.

Quiet when full or quiet when empty? Smile
