My MDD 867 Dualie won't start. - lipskidder - 06-02-2008 Since I got my MBP last year I hardly use my tower. Last I used it was a month ago when I was backing up my photos. Now today it won't turn on. The button on front isn't lit but if I push it it lights up. When I remove my finger it goes dark again. Anyone have a clue as to what's going on? Re: My MDD 867 Dualie won't start. - The Grim Ninja - 06-02-2008 Press reset button. Fail? Replace power supply, Pay $150. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Re: My MDD 867 Dualie won't start. - Harbourmaster - 06-02-2008 While you are inside replacing the PRAM battery with a BRAND NEW ONE, you should remove and re-seat all of the cards, cables and RAM to ensure that they are all making good contact. I had a DA that had this symptom and I thought it had a bum power board, replaced it with a known good one and still had the same problem. After re-seating all of the cards, RAM and cables the machine booted like a champ!! Re: My MDD 867 Dualie won't start. - lipskidder - 06-02-2008 Research is telling me the battery is the likely culprit. Man, I hate opening this thing up. It's always a hassle. It's nested tightly in a desk my wife bought for me a while back. Only way in is to take the desk partially apart. Grrrrrr... It was bad power supply. I ended up taking the PS apart and finding a bad solder joint that I touched up and all was well again. |
