Hi Friends,
Looking to add a 2nd monitor to my 20" C2D white iMac.
I want to get something relatively inexpensive (i.e. $300 max).
Should I match the iMac's resolution (1600 x 1050)?
Which is the best option: 20, 21, or 22" widescreen, if matching the iMac?
What cable will I need and what will that cost?
Any specific or general suggestions greatly appreciated.

1. Avoid TN LCD panels, you want PVA or MVA (if refresh rate is 2 or 3 ms, then it's TN)
2. Generally, Dell is the best value.
3. Matching resolution depends on how you want to use it--as one large glued-together monitor, or as a master and slave, so to speak. For the former, I'd go for the same size, and same resolution. In fact, I think there are stands that will hold the iMac and the monitor next to each other. Not necessary, but nice.

I'd go with any of the Dell Ultrasharp models. A Dell 20" would match your 20" imac well. They're very reasonably priced as well.

22" typicalyl gives you the same number of pixels as the 20". sometimes old people like that

It's not easy to get anything but a TN panel monitor for less than 300.00. Lots of the dell ultrasharps are TN panels. I have perfect eyesight, and I still don't understand why cramming huge numbers of pixels into a small space is so awesome. kj.
