At first, I thought it was a publicity stunt.
Then realized, the press release was likely an effort to neutralize rumors and misinformation.
Duchovny's Publicist, at a press conference:
"No, he's not a drug addict, that's not why he's in rehab. He's a SEX addict. Yes. That's correct. Sex. Not drugs. Just trying to clear that up..."

David has not drop of sex appeal. That must be why he is addicted...no women will look at him. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to have anything but a business relationship with him. Not even a good actor.
