How long to restore iPhone from backup? - mjgkramer - 08-29-2008 I have delayed updating my 3G iPhone to the latest firmware update, ignoring the text messages and emails from Apple and AT&T urging me to do so, and recalling warnings to skip the upgrade read in an iPhone forum. Early this morning I decided to take the leap. The first thing that made me start regretting the decision was the very long time it took to download the firmware update. It was finally over and the process of updating the iPhone began. It also took a very long time. I did not time it but it surely went on for a couple of hours. I came back, hit the keyboard to make the screen saver go away, and saw a message that the update had failed. So I told it to update again and restore from the backup. The latest restore has been going on for a couple of hours with the progress bar shimmering but stuck for more than an hour with a quarter inch of the bar remaining. Now what? Let it run overnight (it's now 3:35)? What happens if I interrupt the restore by forcing a Quit? I really need to be able to use the iPhone. Re: How long to restore iPhone from backup? - mjgkramer - 08-29-2008 I just did a forced Quit on iTunes and restarted the iPhone. It appears to be OK. I am using iTunes 7.7.1. |
