How do you set mac to require PW to wake from sleep? (no breast milk content) - Black Landlord - 09-24-2008

I'm having a tough time getting my iMac 2.16 running 10.5.4 to require a password to wake from sleep.
In system prefs, there's nothing under screensaver; there's nothing in Desktop and Screen Saver; in Security I checked "Require password to wake this computerfrom sleep or screen saver"-- it's still checked after a power cycle but the requirement does not seem to be in effect.
Is this a known bug maybe?
Thanks.

You might try starting up form your original disk and resetting your password from the menu.

Personally, from my home Mac I skipped over the password field and just went on. My Mac is not password protected, but I don't care as I am the only user on the machine and there is nothing that would benefit others on it! Keeps me humming fast!

Having said that, on my portable laptop I do have a password for obvious reasons.

Thanks.
Maybe I just logged out before and didn't restart...
anyways now it requires a password from 'real'
sleep, but not from display sleep/screen saver, although there only seems to be one checkbox for both things.
