Need a Digital Converter Box... Recommendations? - spacescape - 09-24-2008
I have two $40 coupons and even though I have Digital cable and 32" CRT and a couple of smaller CRT's I would like to get a Digital Converter Box or two "Just In Case" I tell the cable company to take a hike. Can anyone recommend "WHICH" converter box is the best bang for the buck? I'd like to keep them as close to $40 if possible.

MikeF is correct.
I have eight different "Coupon Eligible" boxes and the TR-40 is the best box hands down.
Very small, runs very cool, built in guide, sharp picture, analog passthru, and my favorite feature, timed events, it give you the ability to set the unit to tune itself at different times. That allows me to use it with my EyeTV boxes without intervention.

The Zenith DTT901 also received good reviews - but it doesn't have an extended program guide.

I only see two brands with S-Video on the chart, any others? Link for the ratings?
I got my TV just so I could use the S-Video from the DVD player, it would be nice to keep using that port.

S-Video would be nice... Hmmmmm... I have until October 17th to makeup my mind and get something.
