Gas Shortage where you are? - Rain - 09-25-2008

Just got this email from one of my booking agencies.

We're getting reports from artists on the road that gas supplies are varying greatly from city to city. Recent hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico have interrupted the two petroleum pipelines that feed the southeastern United States.

Specifically, we've heard that supplies are shortest in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina.

If you have travel dates within the next few weeks please be aware of this situation and plan accordingly. We recommend the following:

> Try to manage your purchases in order to keep your tank 75% full at all times - This gives you the extra breathing room you might need while traveling through a dry area.

> Try to make your purchases in less-populated areas - Metropolitan areas are reporting outages while less heavily trafficked and rural areas are not.

As always - please be safe out there and plan ahead to be sure you get through this gas shortage without incident.

Part of the shortages in the '70's were caused by a large number of persons following that 75% advice. Just hope most persons in the effected area are more reasonable this time around. Half a tank can take most passenger vehicles at least 150-200 miles, keeping a 3/4 tank cushion around all the time is overkill.

Low supplies in Wilmington, NC at a few stations. Others seem to have plenty of gas.
Costco has been out since last weekend.

Asheville NC is particularly bad.

No but prices are still up

They tell us that it is because much of our gas refined here is being diverted to the south.

I filled up my little Ford Ranger two weeks ago today (just before the price shot up) and still have a little over
a half tank left so I'm hoping the price drops back down soon.

Bingo. That's part of what's killing Atlanta right now. Too many yahoos are running in to top off their tanks every time they see an open pump.

Not only no shortages, but prices here are falling - I filled up at 3.51 - the lowest it has been in a LONG time.
