iPhone query: Anyone have a favorite bluetooth headset, or a different wired one? - Zoidberg - 09-25-2008 I seem to be pretty brutal on my iPhone headsets; I tend to go through them pretty quickly. I keep thinking I'd really like a bluetooth one for phone use, but ratings seem to be all over the map from one site to another. Does anyone have a favorite they'd recommend? (Note: volume is key; I can't wear it and my hearing aid at the same time, so I need a little extra boost in the volume) I'd be willing to go to a new wired/corded headset as well. Note that I rarely use my iPhone for music listening via headphones. I've seen some interesting add-on bits that allow you to hook any headset up and still have a microphone (forget who makes that; saw it at Target the other day). Again, though, does anyone have a particular recommendation here? Or, in both cases, am I better off with Apple's $29 replacement 'phones, knowing I have to replace them once every six months or so? (mostly due to the rubber wearing off, FWIW; they become somewhat irritating (literally) then) Re: iPhone query: Anyone have a favorite bluetooth headset, or a different wired one? - davester - 09-25-2008 What's the application? If it's for use only in the car then perhaps you should get a BlueAnt Supertooth bluetooth visor speakerphone setup. That way you'd be able to use your hearing aid and not have another annoying object in your ear. Re: iPhone query: Anyone have a favorite bluetooth headset, or a different wired one? - PeterB - 09-26-2008 I took the suggestion of some here and got a pair of Griffin tunebuds -- I really like the design, but the problem is that the first pair I got didn't work properly right out of the package, and now the second pair has stopped working in one ear. Therefore I get the impression that their QC is lacking. I also recently bought a Contour Surface Sound car setup ( http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/bluetrek-contour-design-surfacesound-compact ) ... haven't tested it thoroughly yet, but so far I like it. Downside is that you still have to dial the phone, so I'll next be looking for a decent car mount. Re: iPhone query: Anyone have a favorite bluetooth headset, or a different wired one? - macphanatic - 09-26-2008 davester, do you have first hand experience with the BlueAnt? A friend of mine has one and is not impressed with the build or sound quality. Just wondering if you have had better experience. From what I have read, Parrot makes the best aftermarket bluetooth units. They have one that is plug and play. I put their 3200 in my car. Sound quality is excellent. For a headset, I would probably go with the Jawbone. I don't have one, but know several people that do. The sound quality is very good. Re: iPhone query: Anyone have a favorite bluetooth headset, or a different wired one? - davester - 09-26-2008 Yes, I've had the BlueAnt for quite a long time. It's great and I like the sound quality. The only time I have issues is when I'm driving on the freeway with the convertible top down. Re: iPhone query: Anyone have a favorite bluetooth headset, or a different wired one? - testcase - 09-26-2008 The sound quality on the Apple BT headset is very good but, I wish the earpiece were just a bit smaller.
