What just happened with Mail? - iaJim - 10-02-2008

I just checked my email, and got all emails on one account reloaded and marked as unread back until August 2nd. What a nuisance! What happened?

Re: What just happened with Mail? - Monster - 10-02-2008

something similar happened to me yesterday, and I noticed my desktop was back to where it was before I cleaned it up, after a restart it mail back to the way it was supposed to be, and the desktop went back too, items I had previously deleted which had come back were gone again, and others that I had moved around, into folders, etc., were back to where I had put them.

not saying this will help you at all, but that's what happened to me, it was a little weird.

I've been getting the following message for 3 days now with yahoo mail.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
You've stumbled upon a temporary problem we're having with Yahoo! Mail. Usually this problem gets resolved quickly, without you doing a thing.
Try pressing the Reload or Refresh button on your browser, or signing out and back into Yahoo! Mail. Hopefully that will take care of things.
If that doesn't fix the problem, please try again shortly. The fact that you're reading this page means we've been automatically notified of the issue, and chances are we're working on it now.
If you think you've been more than patient and tried the tricks above, feel free to contact Customer Care about Error Code 2.

Still no fix as of this morning. Anyone else?

This has been happening to me for the past year. It happens randomly. Sometimes days/weeks or hours apart. When I notice a large number of emails being downloaded via activity viewer, I stop the download and use Inbox Get Info to view the list of emails on the server then delete the previously downloaded emails. A hassle!

I've been blaming my ISP for this. They've told me to delete the emails right away after downloading.

So, is this a Mail problem??

Re: 1st 2 posts in the thread: Are either of you using FileVault?

Re: What just happened with Mail? - Monster - 10-02-2008

I'm not using Filevault, never have, but for some reason I think it may have something to do with TimeMachine.

It seems more like you've got a problem with permissions or your UID.
