Where do you buy your AAPL stock online? - MacMission - 10-02-2008

I'm ready to pull the trigger on some AAPL stock. I't just a matter of signing up on one of these stock trading websites like ETrade or Scottrade and using your credit card, right? Simple right?

I use Scottrade.
No, I do not believe one can use a credit card to fund their accounts.
I think they have an electronic means of transferring funds in, but when I opened my account there I had to either mail a check or bring it in person to their branch (which I did).
And since I wanted to trade the next day, my check was a cashier's check.

eTrade went fee crazy a few years back.
I left.

I use E*trade and am quite happy, although I haven't used any of the others to compare.

The only fee I'm paying is $9.99 per trade. What fees were they dinging you with, billb?

I use Sharebuilder. They were purchased last year by ING. One of the benefits is that I opened an ING savings account with a 3% interest rate and I can transfer funds to/from Sharebuilder instantly if there is a deal available. I'm looking into setting up a checking account too. They have a pretty good interest rate on that too. I think that my Realtime trades are $4/ea. I have an automatic plan though that includes a number of monthly trades with the monthly fee so they are 'free' to me.

Current Promo:
Free Blackberry when you open a new account with eTrade Smile
7(?) free online trades when you open a new account with Scottrade.

Whichever company you decide to open an account with, do it TODAY before the end of the day. These things take a day to two days to process. It would suck if you miss a buying opportunity because the account wasn't ready.

If I was starting fresh, I'd go with Sharebuilder.

I'm just too lazy to do the paperwork to transfer my account from my current online broker.

And no, you can't use a credit card...
You have to fund stock transactions with cash.

Start the account, certified mail a cashiers check or do an online transfer of funds... away you go.

I use Scottrade. $7/trade, no monthly or other fees for normal trading

I've been very happy with them. I think I've had my account for over 5 years.
