Sweet!

Can I borrow somebody's iPhone to give this a try?

Anybody...

Correct me if I am wrong, but the iPhone in the YouTube video looks like a 2G version (metal back ) rather than the 3G version (solid black or solid white back.

Am I right in thinking that the person in the video unlocked a 2G phone?

:S

that's amazing. For those that travel, it looks like the way to go.

I'm not sure if there are any advantages to switching here in the US. I think most carriers are about the same price.

The advertisement says it works for both 3g and 2g phones. What exactly would this allow you to do in the us? Could the phone then be used with verizon or another carrier?

Newt, why only TMobile?

Re: FREE AT LAST! SIM to unlock 3G iPhone $18 - incognegro - 10-17-2008

it's mainly for foreign uses.

Verizon uses only CDMA phones - no SIMs.

T-Mobile is the only other major carrier in the US that uses the same technology as ATT.

Verizon and Sprint = CDMA.

ATT and TMobile = GSM.

You can get ATT and Tmo phones to work on each other's networks. Same with Verizon and Sprint. But the two technologies are completely different.
