That's a heck of a good price! If I didn't already have two digital cameras, I'd probably buy that one just on pricipal. Re: Polaroid PDC 5080 5.1MP Digital Camera $79 @ computergeeks.com - blusubaru - 03-10-2006 Shoot! Just two weeks ago bought a camera from Geeks (vivitar 5mp w/ 256mb card for $120). I wonder what the return policy is... Re: Polaroid PDC 5080 5.1MP Digital Camera $79 @ computergeeks.com - rgG - 03-10-2006 They had this camera on sale at Target a few weeks ago for $88 I think. I don't think it had all the extras with it, however. Re: Polaroid PDC 5080 5.1MP Digital Camera $79 @ computergeeks.com - PeterB - 03-10-2006 Hmmm... Only comments I can find about this camera are here: http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:ZH5k7UHrOSUJ:www.wildbell.com/2006/02/+%22PDC5080%22+review&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=4&client=googlet ... sounds like a bit "you get what you pay for" (bothersome to me: no optical zoom, fixed focus); still, if you need a cheap camera... Re: Polaroid PDC 5080 5.1MP Digital Camera $79 @ computergeeks.com - grad - 03-11-2006 Sweet!!! I love digital zoom!!! Re: Polaroid PDC 5080 5.1MP Digital Camera $79 @ computergeeks.com - Grateful11 - 03-11-2006 I've seen worse pictures, like the ones my old Vivitar 2mp digicam made. Re: Polaroid PDC 5080 5.1MP Digital Camera $79 @ computergeeks.com - JoeBob - 03-11-2006 Either Walgreens or CVS seems to have this on sale fairly frequently, or it may be the 3.2 megapixel version. Re: Polaroid PDC 5080 5.1MP Digital Camera $79 @ computergeeks.com - wildbell - 03-11-2006 I went out and got one of these when it was on sale at Target a couple weeks ago for $88 in large part because I wanted something of a knock-around, have-it-with-me-at-all-times cam in case a photo op came up. There definitely is that "you get what you pay for" aspect to the unit. It positively hates low-light shots and has a flash that is basically useless illuminating anything more than eight feet away. There's no macro feature, either. So in essence shots at night or involving flash or close-ups are more miss than hit. And the 4x digital zoom is worthless, too. Having said all that, you might expect me to regret the purchase, but I'm actually satisfied with it. It's dimensions make it great to carry around in my pocket (or with the included case, on my belt) and in daylight it takes acceptable images and even 640x480 videoclips with sound. For the price, it is what it is: cheap, simple to use, and providing high-resolution pictures that are good enough for me. A good every-day cam. And should it be lost or broken I won't grieve too deeply. P.S. Posted this before realizing a post about it on my blog had been linked above. Sorry for the redundancy.
