Anyone have a LaCie Little Disk? Easy to remove drive? (500GB 2.5" $99) - thermarest - 12-17-2008 http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=208409890 I've looked at pics on a few sites and I can't tell if it'll be easy to remove the drive. I know the WD Passports are easy, but I've read that some cases are essentially destroyed getting the drive out. Its currently at JR.com, PC Connection and Buy.com for $99, Free Shipping. Re: Anyone have a LaCie Little Disk? Easy to remove drive? (500GB 2.5" $99) - The Grim Ninja - 12-17-2008 Yeah, $100 is a decent price, but for $10 more for a bare drive you get a warranty... Re: Anyone have a LaCie Little Disk? Easy to remove drive? I suppose I could buy the case separately, but that's $20 or such and then I'm paying $30 for a warranty on a $100 product. I'm not sure I like the idea of the built-in USB cable on this one, plus the above comment about 'breaking in' so I think I'll pass. I sadly missed PC Connection's $99 deal on the LaCie 500GB 2.5 in a rugged FW800 case last week. Surprised that didn't show up here. Re: Anyone have a LaCie Little Disk? Easy to remove drive? (500GB 2.5" $99) - Go To Top - 12-17-2008 Porsche Design drives just required some credit card slidin' in the bottoms. Re: Anyone have a LaCie Little Disk? Easy to remove drive? I just figured i needed the optical drive not the case. So i wasn't as ginger as the instructions. Although i did google for instructions before i broke in. and i honestly couldn't find any. Re: Anyone have a LaCie Little Disk? Easy to remove drive? (500GB 2.5" $99) - Bill in NC - 12-17-2008 The WD 500GB bare drive ($128 from OWC) is the best 2.5" SATA currently available - as a 2-platter drive it runs slightly cooler, faster, and uses less power than others' 3-platter 500GB drives: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Western%20Digital/WD5000BEVT/ IMHO, worth the extra $ if your goal is an internal drive for your Macbook. Re: Anyone have a LaCie Little Disk? Easy to remove drive? (500GB 2.5" $99) - hal - 12-17-2008 Porsche cases were EASY to open - don't even need a screwdriver - so is this little disk, but you do need a screwdriver. built in usb is handy, but I prefer the firewire/usb model it should come with a USB extension cable if that's what worries you.
