MBP + 7200 drives = vibration?? - prof - 12-30-2008 I recently upgraded my MBP HD from the stock 160 G HD/5400 to a Hitachi 320 G/7200. Things seem a bit snappier and the extra space is welcome, but there now seems to be greater vibration that can be felt on the hand rests as opposed to almost none with the original HD. I read one review from another MBP user who did the same upgrade warning of this and but thought maybe they just got a bad drive. Maybe I got a bad drive too?? Should I return it for a replacement or will I most likely have the same issue?? TIA, prof P.S -And no the vibration is not due to my OD on sugar from the box of Pop Tarts I consumed last night. Thanks to all concerned ;-) Re: MBP + 7200 drives = vibration?? - mattkime - 12-30-2008 that exact drive is in my hand - was in my mbp, never noticed anything. Re: MBP + 7200 drives = vibration?? - C(-)ris - 12-30-2008 Perhaps the little rubber washers that isolate the driver from the frame aren't correctly positioned? I followed the install video here on OWC Thanks, prof Re: MBP + 7200 drives = vibration?? - C(-)ris - 12-30-2008 Not sure, they kinda just fit where they are supposed to go. A visual check is required I guess. Maybe one slipped sideways? or isn't in all the way. Not sure if it is worth taking the thing apart to see. |
