For my Mac Pro I want to get a VelociRaptor 10 rpm drive for my boot drive. Would 2 of those used as a raid 0 be that much better or faster?

Most of my work day is in Photoshop doing retouching and photo comping for print work.

In that case you would be better off using the velociraptor(s) as a dedicated scratch disk...Or even better... a Velociraptor as the boot drive and one of the Intel X25-M SSD drives... http://www.barefeats.com/hard103.html

Can I put one in my Mac Mini?
How about a RAID of two in my PMG4?
Is the Mac OS smart enough to know that if the boot drive is actually faster than the main memory (Powermac's PC100 compared to a potential SSD boot drive), to let the work stay on the boot drive when possible?

i think there's much better returns on your money as far as speed. the boot drive just doesn't get hit very hard except when booting or loading apps which you might need to do once a week.
