OUCH! Self Induced problem with mail.app Address Book - Aardvark - 04-05-2009

I did a replacement of the Address Book on my MacBook(OSX10.5.6) with the Address Book from my PowerMac G4(OSX10.4.11). I had assumed that being a Mac it would all work out. It didn't. When I tried to open the Address Book on the MacBook I was informed that the older Address Book (from Tiger) could not be used on Leopard.

How can I reestablish the correct Leopard Address Book on my MacBook? I have the Utility Disks that are provided with a new machine but I am not sure if you can extract an individual application to resolve this sort of problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try Pacifist: http://www.charlessoft.com/

I don't know if there is a simpler/free alternative besides reinstalling OSX.

EDIT: FYI, exporting an Address Book archive and importing it into any other version of Address Book takes less than 30 seconds.

Thank you jimbrady. Pacifist did the job quite well and I have the correct Address Book back on the MacBook. Now I have to move on the the Export and Import routines.... :-)

OK, I surrender. What is your recommended method to export from the OSX10.4.11 Address Book and import to the OSX10.5.6 Address Book, running on a non networked situation.

It is not obvious :-)
