Bought the MacHeist Bundle--Apps so far... - Grumpyguy - 04-08-2009

To be honest, the only reason I went for the MacHeist deal was, one it was cheap, and two, I'm really desperate for some new software.

So far, I've downloaded three apps:
1. LittleSnapper is basically a screenshot app. Might be useful for capturing websites for blogging.
2. Picturesque. Not really impressed by the image "manipulator".
3. Acorn. This one might well be worth the $39 alone. Seems to have the abilities of Photo Studio, but much more up-to-date. Might well be my new image editor.

Still need to download the rest.

I bought it too. World of Goo and CroMag Rally are $39 alone. The rest are potentially useful.

I bought it for Kinemac- I quite frequently have to give presentations, and a bit of animation goes an awfully long way. I deal with 3D molecular images, so I have a few ideas that may be possible with Kinemac, I will have to see. Apart from that, I see that my favourite HTML editor (Taco) is now pay for, and I really like CSSedit (even though I only use about 1% of its capabilities) so I am hoping that Espresso will similarly be brilliant. iSale I would never have paid for, but may well now use- I am a fairly enthusiastic cook, so SousChef may well be useful- all in all, I am pleased that I got in for this Heist. Even though I am now wasting my time playing CroMagnon Rally!

BoinxTV: I'm hoping that it can be used to record online seminars...

Espresso is supposed to be a very cool web design app...

Delicious Library has always intrigued me, but I'm not sure I can give it the time it would require!

Veronica Belmont could get me to buy anything.

I said that I wouldn't, but I just ordered the bundle…
…sigh!

Boinx TV looks very cool, but unfortunately I use a Mac mini, so I don't have enough horsepower to use it. A friend of mine bought the bundle mostly for that application- he found that it was not compatible with HD video and, not that surprisingly, it kept the cpu pegged at high activity and the hard drive spinning in his MacBook Pro. Also, he found that capturing two stream simultaneously (one from his webcam, one from his DV camera), the DV camera stream lagged. In a few years time, when the price of second-hand Mac Pro towers has dropped to a few hundred dollars, I will get my chance to be my own TV studio!

you can't even get a dual G5 tower for less than $500 and those are 5 years old...
