I'm a guy. I follow the Guy code. We NEVER ask for directions, unless our wife makes us do it.

But we are HAPPY spending a few hundred for a GPS to tell us where to go.

I have a great sense of direction and never get lost. A might confused at times, but never lost.

I never thought much of GPS units until I bought one for my Dad. Those things are not only useful, but tons of fun! I'm betting they will be standard equipment in the near future.

If it's something ordinary, like the nearest hotel, town or major attraction, they'll automatically spit out basic directions without a second thought. I would not ask them for directions to anything more specific. That's not the time or place for complicated conversations, honey.
