LCD repair - did i buy a bad inverter? - mattkime - 04-08-2009

I'm attempting to fix an Apple Studio display which appears to have a bad inverter. the top of the display isn't as bright as the bottom, which i could switch if i switched the connectors between the inverter and the bulbs.

i bought a new inverter on ebay. i installed it and now the top is fine but the bottom isn't working. did someone sell me a bad inverter? or could something else be broken?

Sounds like another bad inverter. Does it switch when you change them around like the other one?

haven't tried yet but both of the inverters work initially but a day later they're not working. not sure if that has any other meaning.

If it is 15" or 17" Cinema it is probably time to give up....
