So I've got a refurbed, last of the line of white, 24" iMacs. Applecare purchase window closes before the end of the month if I want it. So what is the consensus of the forum?
Or should I sell and pick up a refurb 2.8 24" machine and spend perhaps the cost of the Applecare?

IF you get it, The Forum is right, get it off ebay for cheap.
But if you ask me, grab one of those refurb Al 2.8 24". Those are an incredible deal.

If for no other reason, I understand that if you do need help, you go to the head of the line ahead of those that do not have applecare.

that's what I have found. They know you won't go away, because they either have to fix it or get you a new machine.

Good question.
In the same boat here-- last of the white 20"- the year expires April 20.
With the macbook it was no question-- you just don't not get Applecare for a laptop, the chance of motherboard of case failure is just too high.
I'm really on the fence about the iMac . . .

From my experience, AppleCare must be some kind of insurance to keep your Mac from needing service. I've had AC on three of my Macs, and, with each, the AC ran out without being used. Now the two without AC? Yup. Both needed repair. Amex repaired one, and I sold the other for parts. You can't win, you know.

I never bought it for my towers but I got it for my iMac solely because the display is part of the computer. Do check eBay. I just looked back in my records just to refresh my memory, and I was able to get it from a seller on eBay for $83.05 shipped.
