Why yes, in reference to the spoiler, yes it was. There are all kinds of implications for that. I do think that it reinforces my...[spoiler=theory that may be a spoiler...]
theory that the smoke monster takes the shape of the dead person on the island that is the closest to you. Now that we have seen the smoke monster talking to Anubis, Egyptian god of the underworld/dead, it seems even more likely. Remember Mr. Ecko saw his brother the priest, Jack's father for Jack, and now Alex for Ben. It also seems that for some reason that Jack's father Christian is the default persona for Smokie, since he appeared to both Locke and Sun/Lapidus as Christian. Just a thought.

My daughter and I were trying to count just how many people on that show have beat the crap out of Ben, at one time or another. I decided it would be easier to count the people who hadn't. Ben is certainly resilient, in many ways.
