PowerBook G4 1.67 Internal Battery Replacement Help Needed - Beam Me Up Scotty - 04-09-2009
Hi Gang,
My PB no longer keeps track of date and time so its time to replace.
I looked on line and it appears the little bugger requires me to disassemble the darn thing down to its bones. I can work on towers no problem (I build computers for charities, friends and neighbors) so I'm fairly tech savvy but I have no experience with laptops.
My question is should I give it a shot or take it in for repair? Any links on to how to replace are also appreciated, a video would be great.

When did Apple stop putting "internal" batteries in the 'Books?
I don't know if my PB12 has one. I thought it didn't.

All iBooks and 12" PowerBooks did not have an internal backup battery. In the PowerBooks the backup battery was not just for the clock and PRAM, it also maintained memory contents during a main battery swap while in sleep mode. All MacBooks and MacBook Pros do have an internal battery, I do not think it acts as a backup to memory though.

No, it is very unlikely RS will. The backup battery is composed of rechargeable LiIon cells unlike the PRAM batteries used in desktop models. OWC carries some of the internal batteries for PowerBooks, but I did not see one for your G4 model during a quick search.
