I don't view any of those prices as spectacular...
There was a hitachi 1TB SATA the other day for $80. Is this a big deal because it's PATA drives?

I think so. Last fall I was looking for one because I have a great FW enclosure I wanted to keep using. Can't remember exact prices, but they were much more than larger SATA drives. The 750 PATA bare drives were more than 1 TB drives in cases.
