MBP LCD Dimming Issue - prof - 04-11-2009

I've been noticing that the LCD display on my MBP 2.4 seems to dim sporadically when I'm working on it even when using AC power.
Is this a known issue with this model??

TIA,
prof

Here's what I've concluded about that situation on my MBP.

There are light sensors near the perforated vents on the top/sides. If you cover these vents with your hands, the screen will dim.

Chances are, you are passing your hand over one of the sensors beneath the screens, thus dimming the screen in response.

Set a desk light so it shines onto one of the screens. This will keep the LCD bright.

Or go to System Preferences / Displays and uncheck "Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes." Then you must manually adjust screen brightness with F1 and F2 if you move to a brighter or dimmer room.

Thanks very much!

mine brightens/dims like described too.

check your energy preference settings in System preferences.

If you have it set to better battery life, the screen dims automatically in some ridiculously short time with plugged in or using the battery.
