Mother-Son Dance? - MikeF - 04-11-2009 Was out with some friends the other night and we were doing some of our own trivia challenges. One was "good" father-of-the-bride/bride wedding songs to dance to and we came up with several. However, when the subject was "good" mother-of-the-groom/groom songs to dance to we didn't really have any at all. Answers? I figure this forum has the answer to everything. Re: Mother-Son Dance? - SteveO - 04-11-2009 Hey Mama by Kanye West is what i danced to with my dear ma when I got married last November. Re: Mother-Son Dance? - DavidS - 04-11-2009 Cleanin' out my Closet by Eminem? Hmmm... maybe not. ![]() Re: Mother-Son Dance? - Mike Sellers - 04-11-2009 "Mother" by John Lennon Re: Mother-Son Dance? - Black - 04-11-2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irp8CNj9qBI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWoyZixx1l4&feature=related Re: Mother-Son Dance? - Racer X - 04-11-2009 just not "Let's Get it On" or "Afternoon Delight" Re: Mother-Son Dance? - blusubaru - 04-11-2009 I've been dj'ing weddings for over ten years and here's a quick list that I can come up with. Song for Mama - Boyz II Men Simple Man - Skynyrd You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong Finding a song like this to dance to is tricky. You want to find something that doesn't show up the bride/groom dance in meaning, but still touching for the guy and his mom. It depends on how sentimental the guy wants to get. I danced to Sunshine on my Shoulder - John Denver with my mom because that's what she used to sing me to sleep when I was very young. Re: Mother-Son Dance? - wurm - 04-12-2009 Believe it or not, my wife danced with her dad and I danced with my mother at the same time to Barry Manilow's I Am Your Child. It worked out great and we didn't have to listen to Daddy's Little Girl for the zillionth time. I am your child. Wherever you go, you take me, too. Whatever I know, I learn from you. Whatever I do, you taught me to do. I am your child. And I am your chance. Whatever will come, will come from me. Tomorrow is won, by winning me. Whatever I am, you taught me to be. I am your hope, I am your chance, I am your child. Re: Mother-Son Dance? - morlock - 04-12-2009 I guess "Mother, Mother" by Tracy Bonham is out... Re: Mother-Son Dance? - swampy - 04-12-2009 I chose Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" for my son's Mother Son Dance song. I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat But always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed I hope you still feel small When you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give fate a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance I hope you dance I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Living might mean taking chances But they're worth taking Lovin' might be a mistake But it's worth making Don't let some hell bent heart Leave you bitter When you come close to selling out Reconsider Give the heavens above More than just a passing glance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always) I hope you dance (Rolling us along) I hope you dance (Tell me who) I hope you dance (Wants to look back on their years and wonder) (Where those years have gone) I hope you still feel small When you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance Dance I hope you dance I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always) I hope you dance (Rolling us along) I hope you dance (Tell me who) (Wants to look back on their years and wonder) I hope you dance (Where those years have gone) (Tell me who) I hope you dance (Wants to look back on their years and wonder) (Where those years have gone) |
