Any Black Crowes fans here? - pinkoos - 04-20-2009 Never really listened to them before, save for the radio hits back in the 90s. D/L'd the Greatest Hits yesterday and like the Southern Rock. Any interesting trivia I should know about the Crowes? Also, any recs for a good concert DVD? Thanks. Re: Any Black Crowes fans here? - DavidS - 04-20-2009 They started out as a mediocre cover band in Atlanta in the mid-80s. I used to see them perform as Mr. Crowes Garden and have seen them numerous times as The Black Crowes. They got much better performing their own work. Rich and Chris have had their feuds but nothing like the brothers in Oasis. Re: Any Black Crowes fans here? - MacArtist - 04-20-2009 Saw them at Fiddler's Green in Denver. Must have been around 1989. They opened for Heart. Re: Any Black Crowes fans here? - pinkoos - 04-20-2009 DavidS wrote: Speaking of Oasis, any recs regarding a good concert DVD? Re: Any Black Crowes fans here? - ztirffritz - 04-20-2009 Their lead singer is about 6'6" and weighs about 120lbs. He looks like a scarecrow. Good old-school style rock n roll though. They love pot. That's is about all that I know about them. Re: Any Black Crowes fans here? - rgG - 04-20-2009 ztirffritz wrote: And, he is divorced from Kate Hudson. Remember too, that Kate's father, Bill Hudson, was one of the Hudson Brothers, from the band of the same name, that was married to Goldie Hawn. ![]() Re: Any Black Crowes fans here? - DavidS - 04-20-2009 MacArtist wrote: I saw that show in Atlanta in summer 1989 at Lakewood Amphitheater. It was odd seeing them in such a large arena after being used to seeing them play for a few hundred at local clubs. Over the last few years, they have been playing smaller venues in Atlanta. Re: Any Black Crowes fans here? - Will Collier - 04-21-2009 Yeah, I remember seeing them play the War Eagle Supper Club (one of the divey-est dives you're ever likely to find) in Auburn during the Mr. Crowes' Garden days. They were pretty bad back then. Flash forward a couple of years to opening for Robert Plant around 1990, they'd really come a long way, and they were an order of magnitude better than that on their first headlining tour in '92. Saw them play the Tabernacle and the Fox Theater a couple of years back when the band reformed. A bit to jammy for my tastes these days, but they still put on a good show.
